The hand that feeds you

Mrs. Reynolds has become a very lovey cat- especially to me. I think this is because we cut her food back and I'm the one who feeds her most often. I bet she thinks that the more she loves on me, the more I'll feed her. Hopefully she won't figure out that her plan isn't working.

Here we go again

It's the beginning of a new semester of graduate classes and every time it's always the same. I panic. I am totally overwhelmed. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I'm trying to remind myself how every other semester it's always worked out, but it doesn't help me shake the feeling.

I'm currently in Carrollton trying to shake that feeling.

M&Ms

Today I will start my famous 2 day M&M activity. Wish me luck.

Sick

It's kind of sick that I keep wishing I was just sick enough to stay home from school.

Dream Job

Not that I want the competition, but if you win, you have to let me stay with you.

Accusations

I know that I'm usually pretty light-hearted here, but I have to be serious for a minute and say that I have been accused of physically harming a child and of being a racist. I know, you know, my principal and all the teachers at my school know that this is ridiculous, but somehow it still makes me very, very upset.

Rice Krispy Treats

I have a confession to make. I've been cutting long thin strips from the pan of rice krispy treats so that no one will know how much if it I'm eating or at what hours. Now you know my secret.

Meetings

This afternoon, I am attending church leadership meetings/workshops. Thank goodness Amber will be there with me.

Another Surprise!

Nate surprised me on our date yesterday by having our friends Andrew and Kara meet us for lunch! It was a really wonderful day!

SURPRISE!

I've scheduled this to post at 7PM so that even if my dad did read my blog today, he wouldn't find out that we are surprising him by showing up for dinner AND that after we get back from the restaurant, there will be a surprise party! Happy Birthday, Dad!

Nate

I have the most wonderful husband in the world.
There are many reasons for this claim, but for now, I will just mention that he has planned the most wonderful date for us tomorrow. We're going out to lunch in Atlanta and then we're going to the Atlanta History Museum to see the Muppets exhibit! The best part is, he's done ALL the planning. See? He is the best.

Tonight's agenda

  • Laundry
  • Watch a movie
  • Make and eat rice krispy treats

Excuses

Mrs. Reynolds is purring in my lap. I think I'll just keep looking at people's facebook albums a little longer.

How Dare I

I have the audacity to expect students to look at me when I'm speaking to them and apologize (without rolling their eyes) when they are disrespectful. I really didn't think that was too much to ask.

New Book Party

Just thought I'd share pictures of my New Book Party.

Frustration!

So I have been trying to register for a class, one of only four needed to complete my masters, and I am being thwarted at every turn. It is so frustrating! In the past, anything of this sort would have caused me to burst into tears. Now, I just want to punch someone and eat a dozen chocolate glazed dounuts. I'm starting to think that crying was a healthier outlet.

It's 8 PM

and I'm going to bed.

Today was long. We had our elementary school Book Party and then after a brief meeting at DFCS, Nate and I signed paperwork that officially makes us foster parents. To celebrate such a successful day, I'm going to bed really, really early.

Teacher Work Day

Today, I worked my butt off. I'm getting the library ready for a 3 day "We Love Our New Books" party complete with party favors (thanks to Noelle, Chuck, and Nate). I'm really excited about the new books and I want the kids to be too.

New Church!

Here is the church, without a steeple.

Open the doors and see all the people!

Am I a Goody-Goody?

I don't think I mentioned it here yet, but I had a truly wonderful time with my high school friend Bisa the other night. The fact that I only had water at the pub might have made the answer to this question pretty obvious to the casual observer. And reminiscing with Bisa I'm pretty sure that most people I went to high school with (and probably college too) would consider me a goody-goody. The question is- am I still considered one?

Merry Christas- Take 2

Yesterday was great. We had great food, we got to open our handmade gifts, we played Scattegories, we laughed, we decorated sugar cookies, and generally had a wonderful time with Nate's family.

Cooking Ham

Nate and I learned at 1 AM last night that 15 lb hams take 7.5 hours to cook. So we got back up at 5 AM to prepare the ham and put it in the oven. This damn well better be the best ham I've ever had.

Beer!

Even though I don't like beer (at all) tonight's activities will revolve around it. Touring through Sweetwater Brewery and then on to dinner at the Brick Store Pub. I hope they have a good home brewed root beer.

Visitors!

We enjoyed all of our friends over for New Year's Eve and yesterday we got a new set of visitors! Dan and G are here for a few days (yea!!) and Nate's friend from high school spent the day with us.

2009

For people who don't have cable (or any channels for that matter) we spend a LOT of time in front of the TV. Watching movies, TV on DVD, and Netflix (I think the Watch-It-Now feature through the Xbox has been our real downfall) consumes a lot of our time. I'm going to try to spend less time in front of that screen in 2009.

Also, I had a wonderful time ringing in the new year with some wonderful friends last night!
