Lazy Sunday

Stayed in my pajamas until 1:00. Worked on a quilt I'm making for Korra. Completely forgot about a baby shower I was looking forward to attending. Took Korra outside to try out her new balance bike.  Went to church without Nate and Korea (so Korra wouldn't infect all he other kids). Now I'm ready to watch some Friday Night Lights and pretend like I don't have to go back to work tomorrow. 

Thanksgiving Recap

My parents and brother came for Thanksgiving and I really enjoyed having so much of my family (from my side and Nate's together). 

I took an afternoon nap every day. 

My nephew loved kissing his cousin Korra and followed her everywhere (including the bathroom). 

Korra's cold got worse. She threw up a few times and had a fever on and off. We'll be going to the doctor on Monday. 

I finished a book and 2 crochet projects. 

Cabin Time!

Cocoa wheats breakfast with my brother and Korra. On our way to enjoy lunch and a little shopping at the Indie Arts Festival with our friends Beth and Kelley and then it's on to the cabin for a week! 

Big Bag of Money (and no where to put it)

Triple counted the book fair money.  By the time I got to the front office, the secretary (and the only holder of the key to the safe) was gone.  So there I am standing in the front office with a huge bag of cash.  Thankfully the principal agreed to figure out what to do with it so I was free to come home and start my Thanksgiving break!

I got a free sheet of wallet sized photos from my school year book picture. What the heck am I going to do with them?

I need a break

I can't remember the last time I've NEEDED Thanksgiving Break this much.  School really sucks right now.

Injured Peace Walker

We're hosting the Peace Walkers in our neighborhood tonight but we just had to send our guest to the ER for some pretty serious hip pain. Poor lady. Praying for a quick recovery. 

I Need to Cry!

Korra's wakes up every morning when she hears me in the kitchen, even though she's not really ready to be up. She usually cries through breakfast saying things like, "I just need to cry for a little bit."

Eye Twitch

Book Fair induced eye twitch has arrived.  Thank goodness I have all of next week off to make it go away.

Nativity

Today's Gonna Suck

Sore throat.  Assistant called in sick.  Back-up assistant pulled to sub.  Book Fair set-up this afternoon.  Why am I wasting time blogging?  I have too much to do.

Bad Meeting, Good Meeting

My after school media specialists' meeting was long and stressful. My meeting later tonight with 3 lady friends to plan an Advent party for church, which will include coffee and brownies, will be fun and relaxing. 

Book Club Buttons

I made buttons to give out as prizes for my book club kids.  They said things like, "Mrs. B thinks I'm cool" and "I read past my bedtime."  The kids really liked them!

What'd you do today?

I had to take the car to the shop because the power steering and lights cut off now and then (but they couldn't find anything wrong). 

Our deadbolt got stuck in the locked position while the door was open so we had to immediately get a new one and replace it so we could close our front door. 

Korra had her second day of no potty accidents (so I got to hear the the Lalaloopsy theme song a few more times). 

I Need a New Song

Korra went the whole day without an accident yesterday so I let her watch a show on my phone (a big treat for her).  She picked Lalaloopsy.  And now I have that theme song stuck in my head.  Not any better than the Daniel Tiger Potty Song.

Compliments

I got compliments from 2 coworkers this morning.  Really great way to start me day.

Pottery!

I got to do a little pottery demonstration on the wheel for our 8th graders today.  They really enjoyed it and so did I!

Cute Girls

Came home to find Korra and her Daytime Sister playing Ring Around the Rosie and then taking turns playing with each other's hair. So stinking cute. 

Daniel Tiger

Sick Korra got to watch a few episodes of Daniel Tiger yesterday.  I have the potty song stuck in my head today.

Squeaky Voice

Korra's cold keeps getting worse. She has a squeaky, scratchy voice today to accompany the runny nose and cough. Also she's super whiney and clingy. Poor baby. 

No Nap

Wishing I could take the afternoon nap Korra has decided to skip. 

Auburn Game

In Auburn to do a little tailgating and then watching the game at a friend's house. Korra really liked the bus ride to the campus and the leaves.

Food Bowl Mystery

I Sleep Good

Korra woke up crying after about an hour of sleep with a stuffy nose.  I went in her room and she immediately says, "I all done.  I sleep good."  Poor thing tried her hardest to convince me she should be allowed to get up and play.

Apple Crisp!

I know I post about it every time I make it but... Apple crisp tonight!

Useful Walk

The enjoyment from my daily walks with Korra have begun to wane a little so it helped that today's walk had a destination (two actually!). We walked to the polling station to vote and then to the public library because I had a book on hold. Times like these I'm extra thankful for the location of my home and all the great sidewalks!

Going to Go Blind

While I got some good news at my eye appointment today (the tears in my retina aren't getting worse and aren't a cause for concern), the doctor also informed me that I have pigment dispersion which means my iris is flaking off and floating around my eye. This increases my chance of glaucoma. My suspicion that I will one day go completely blind have just come one step closer to being confirmed. I will now reinstate my habit of trying to perform tasks with my eyes closed in order to better prepare myself for the inevitable. 

Librarian Humor

I just discovered some Librarian Humor Pintrest boards.  This day just got infinitely better.

Dilated Eyes

Nate and I both had eye doctor appointments this morning.  I'm at work now, but I'm wearing my sunglasses inside and I still can't see super well.  Maybe I should have taken a half day.

Puking Kids

Last night our neighbor's boy threw up in our kitchen. This afternoon Korra up-chucked in the dining room. Both seemed fine immediately after so we're hoping it's not a stomach bug (because I've seen all the vomit I can handle for a while). 

Snuggle Time

Blueberry muffins, Frozen, and snuggling in pajamas with my Korra. Perfect. 

Fall Festival

Smaller turn out than past years (probably due to the cold weather and that it is after Halloween) but it was still fun and I'll count it as a success.

Coco Wheats!

Made my own Coco Wheats this morning!  Added a tablespoon of sugar, half a tablespoon of cocoa powder, and a few drops of vanilla to the Cream of Wheat. Perfect breakfast for this cold morning!
