Christmas Take 2

On our way to the cabin!  Baughman family Christmas!

Wisconsin!

Bought tickets for Korra and myself to fly to Wisconsin in the beginning of February!  Really excited to visit family!

Waking contradiction

Eating Christmas cookies and looking up exercise videos on Amazon Prime.

Scary Voice

Korra has suddenly started to randomly use a rather scary gravely voice. It is especially creepy when she says things like, "no, ma'am."

Ducks, wagon rides, and forts

Today we went to Lake Junaluska to walk and see the ducks. My dad took Korra on a wagon ride and my mom but her a pillow fort. It was a good day to be Korra.

I'm Happy

Korra woke up earlier than I wanted this morning so I brought her into our bed. After about 30 minutes of snuggling, she whispered, "I'm happy.". Going to treasure that memory forever.

Date Night

Korra's with the grandparents so Nate and I are going out to dinner in Asheville!

Big Hero Six

Trading Korra to see her first movie in the theater!

Christmas Morning

No presents to open this morning (we did all that on Saturday when my brothers were here) but we do have homemade cinnamon rolls, breakfast casserole, and A Christmas Story!

Candles and Chopsticks

Went to a lessons and carols Christmas Eve service (Korra loved the candles during Silent Night) and then we took a spin on our usual Chinese Christmas Eve dinner and went for Japanese (sushi and ramen!). Korra loved the chopsticks.

Adorable Christmas Photos

Gingerbread House

Assembled and decorated this gingerbread house with my mom and Korra!

Sweater

This was my sweater when I was 2. It was made by one of my mom's friends almost 30 years ago.

Return of the Afternoon Nap!

Sometimes my favorite part of being a teacher is the naps I get to take during the holidays.

Wizard of Oz

Snuggling with Korra and watching Wizard of Oz. Perfect.

Lunch Date

Church with the family this morning and then taking a drive to meet my college friend, her husband and their new baby for lunch.

Potty Training Road Trip

After a few stops for potty breaks, we're almost at my parents' house!  Celebrating family Christmas tonight since both my brothers (and their ladies) are up there this weekend.

Return of the Crochet Master

Taught one of my favorite students to crochet this morning while we discussed books.  Perfect way to start my day!

Last Day!

Last day of work for 2 weeks!!!

Dry Shampoo

Why did it take me so long to try dry shampoo?!  This has changed my life (at least in the winter!)

Christmas Sweaters

We're having our teacher Christmas party today and we were encouraged to wear ugly sweaters.  I get that's the "thing" right now, but what I think someone failed to realize is that 50+ year old teachers regularly wear what many would consider to be ugly/tacky Christmas sweaters unironically.  I'm a little worried that someone will win the Tacky Sweater contest when they hadn't intended to enter.

Airbag

Up early and waiting on the lobby of the Toyota dealership so they can check our recalled airbag. Enjoying watching Good Morning America and thinking about how I'll be watching it with my mommy in a few days.

Fantasy In Lights!

It's time for our annual Christmas tradition of riding the trolley at Callaway Garden's Fantasy in Lights!  Going with neighbors this year (6 adults, 3 toddlers, 2 babies in total).  Supposed to be about 50 degrees- perfect!

Breakfast!

Today is potluck breakfast at school!  I'm so excited!

Friday Night Lights

In less than two months, Nate and I binge watched FNL. Just finished the last episode. Enjoyed our way more than I thought I would (though I tended to wandered the house a bit during the extended football game scenes).

Bad Burn

Burned my thumb really badly (like big, nasty blister) on the hot glue gun. There goes all the rest of my crocheting and crafting plans. Ouch.

Exemption Letters

Yesterday and today have been an insane scramble of middle schoolers trying to exempt their finals (which includes paying library fines).  They always wait until the last minute.

Kristoffice

Korra is pushing her kitty (who she named Ginny Ginny) in her toy stroller and saying, "It's time to go to the Kristoffice!" (That's a combination of Kristoff and post office)

Advent Party

Our church had a really nice advent party tonight.  I am so glad I felt well enough to enjoy it! (and well enough to make french bread, strawberry buckle, and cinnamon swirl bread today!)

Land of the Living

Finally feel like a real person again today. The OBGYN gave me antibiotics and I have no idea if they worked that fast but I don't care. I was able to clean the house (with Nate's help) which always makes me feel like I'm putting the sickness behind me. I was also able to cook dinner and play with Korra. Still weak but so much better.

Just a Little more complaining

I have craft/Christmas projects to do, a baby blanket waiting to be crocheted, a fridge full of ingredients for dinners that need to be cooked, a house that needs to be cleaned and a daughter who wants me to play Tiger. And all I can do is lay in bed and try not to vomit. This sucks.

Tomorrow

Even though tomorrow is a busy day in the library, there is no point in pretending that I'm feeling any better, so I already put in for another sick day. I've never taken off 3 days in one week. I already had a scheduled OBGYN appointment for tomorrow afternoon, maybe I can get him to check out this other crap while I'm there?  Hey, I can hope.

Priorities

Trying to keep down a bit of breakfast and still worrying about how things are going at school. What is wrong with me?

Worse

Got worse all day but didn't feel like I could leave since the school was so short staffed. I had 7th graders checking out and shelving books by the end of the day while I sat crumpled on a stool giving directions. My principal came by and insisted I get a sub for tomorrow. My stomach has been hurting so badly ever since I got home. Can't remember the last time I felt this sick. My wonderful assistant (and great friend) came by with soup, Sprite and popsicles. And Nate's been so good talking care of Korra and me, too.
Came to work because I don't feel like I'm about to die (though still not anywhere near better).  The principal comes to tell me they're pulling my assistant to sub all day and... I start to cry.  Yep, totally professional.

Sick again

Woke up with pounding headache, sore throat, and queasy tummy. Called in sick even though it is the worst day to miss (book club and 8 classes). My administrator was mean when I called to tell her. "What's wrong with you people?  Why can't you just come to work." Made me feel even more awful. Korra wants to know why mommy keeps coughing in the potty.

Return on the Twitch

Eye twitch(es) went away over Thanksgiving.  Came back in full force today.  2 weeks until Christmas break.

There's a Theme

Within 30 minutes this morning, I saw students named Ocean, Rivers, and Meadow.  And they aren't related.

Egg Run

Thank goodness for neighbors with chickens!  Started making muffins this morning when I realized we were out of eggs. Was able to run across the street in my pj's and now there are blueberry muffins in the oven!

Christmas Check List

Cards mailed. Tree decorated. Lights up. Nativity arranged. Presents wrapped. 2 more weeks until Christmas break!

Korra's PlayList

Songs on Korra's play list (by her request):
Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede
Pop It by Anamanaguchi
The Fox by Ylvis
Settle Down by Kimbrough
And of course, Let it Go

No Assistant (again)

I have not had my library assistant for a full day in 4 weeks. She gets pulled every day, sometimes (like today) for the full day. When she's gone, it feels like I'm keeping this ship afloat but it's certainly not moving forward.

Annual Tradition

As is my annual tradition, I forgot today was the Christmas parade, so I once again tried (and failed) to get across town.  10+ years. You think I'd learn.

Check this out.  It's cool.

Sad Working Mom

Korra cried and said, "Don't go to work!  Don't leave me." My heart is hurting.

1.5 hours

Only made it an hour and a half at work. Home now. Body aches. Sore throat. Bleh.

Christmas Stuff

Went to a Christmas thing at the college for a bit this afternoon and then decorated our tree.

Forgetful

I accidentally ordered 11 DVDs we already had.  I forgot to pay our mortgage on time.  I forgot to bring in the Book Fair signs (and 3 are now missing).  Forgot my laptop at home yesterday.  Got to get my mind straight!

Christmas Tree Acquired!

Bought a Christmas tree!  This may not seem like a big deal but it is. It's the first time we'll put up a tree in our entire married life. Nate has been adamantly against it but finally gave in when I threatened to give away all his Christmas ornaments. Looking forward to decorating it tomorrow!

Raking Leaves

I didn't get a lot of leaves raked this afternoon.
