Day 52 and 53
Day 52
Today I learned how to do the Milly Rock! When I first watched the video, I almost said, "that's too hard for me" and didn't even try. But then I thought of my students and I felt inspired to try. It was actually easy! I think dancing might have gotten easier for me! I know it seems obvious that is you practice something out gets easier but somehow I must have started to believe that wasn't true of me and dancing.
Day 53
Finally! Some blessed souls have uploaded fully choreographed Panini Zumba videos to YouTube! This project would have been sooooooo much easier if those had existed 53 days ago!

Day 48 and 49
Day 48
Today I learned "the floss." The video I watched was called "A Parent's Guide to Flossing." The girl who did the video was more than a little condescending but overall helpful.
Day 49
Today I learned how to Bop, Whip, and Duff (thanks, Silento!) I also practiced flossing. I've been practicing from about 9-9:30pm most days but I think I need to move it earlier in the day. I'm worried I'm going to drive my downstairs neighbors nuts by dancing and jumping around so late.

I did it!
I learned about Kindezi at a challenging moment in my educational career. Here is the verbatim message I sent to Kindezi's Facebook page below:
"A former coworker of mine recently referred me to your website. After watching the video on your careers page, I was nearly moved to tears. It was so powerful to see a school that is actually living out all the things that I know in my heart are best for students. Every few seconds I found myself saying, "Yes!" and "This!" I've been a public school educator for 12 years and I had started to lose hope that there schools out there for teachers like me. You have given me hope. This comment is really just a big THANK YOU. Thank you for creating a school where I know students (and teachers!) will thrive. Thank you for living out your convictions about what kids really need to succeed on more than just a state test. Thank you for daring to be different. I submitted an application and would love to join your team, but even if that doesn't happen I wanted you at the school to know how happy it makes me just to know a school like yours exists. Thank you for bringing me hope."
A few days later I received an invitation to interview at Kindezi. It felt like a ray of hope for a profession that I was willing to abandon because of the systemic issues that plague our public classrooms. I got the job and was elated. Each day, I am living the reality of that Facebook video. I've grown more passionate about my career as an educator because of Kindezi. I am able to be the teacher I want to be- the teacher my students need me to be. I can build relationships, be creative, teach social-emotional skills, and focus on the things that make us fully human. I am able to change the lives of my students in a way that I wasn't able to in previous school settings.
I come to you not just as an employee but also as a Kindezi parent My daughter has attended Kindezi since kindergarten and has blossomed. Even if I didn't teach here, this is where I would want my child to be. She's thriving academically, socially and emotionally. She gets instruction that meets her individual needs. Her emotional and social growth are cultivated and valued equally to her academic achievements. Her teachers love her and care about her future. Kindezi is the best possible place for her as a scholar and for me as an educator. I can't imagine my life without Kindezi and I hope I never have to live in a world where it doesn't exist.
