Un-anchored

My whole adult life has been grounded and shaped by this school.  My job there is why we're in this city, why we bought this house.  It's experiences there that lead us to become foster parents.  By losing this job, I'm losing a whole part of myself.  I'm un-anchored.

Not true. The school isn't your anchor, it's the foundation. The foundation to your career and the many, many experiences to come throughout the rest of your life. You're going to take everything you've learned at the school, living in a small town, caring for assorted kids, etc. and continue to build a beautiful and awesome life from there. Everything you've done until now has prepared you for this huge and, yes--as of right now--scarily unknown, adventure you're about to embark upon. You wouldn't be able to do what you're about to without having been at the school for this long and, eventually, you'll look back and be shocked at how every little thing in LaGrange prepared you for every other little thing to come. It's just hard to be standing on the other side of that (looking forward). Luckily, you're surrounded by many people who will love and support you through it all. (HUGE hug!)
