I'm sure there's lots of learning to be done, but we have talked to people who keep chickens... The mama should start laying again soon. She'll lay 1 egg per day (about) during the summer and once every 3 days (about) during the winter. How much they lay has to do with how much sun they get. As for the chicks, I think it's supposed to be a year before they lay, so we will be able to expect about 3-4 eggs per day next summer.

so cool. how long does it take the babies to get to egg-making? how many eggs does the mama make? is this about to be a big learning curve?
