Muffler

I think the Cressida needs a new muffler. It is SO LOUD that I'm embarrassed to drive it around town.

(I)NC

While cleaning today, I put on a CD I probably haven't listened to since my freshman year of college. It's a mix of songs from a band called The (International) Noise Conspiracy that my friend Joseph gave me our senior year of high school. The music immediately took me back to driving around with Joe shopping in thrift stores, eating Taco Bell, and holding impromptu dance parties in his basement. Joseph and I went to see them during our freshman year of college and I wore this red salsa dress I'd bought at Goodwill. I love how music has the ability to bring back memories so vividly.

Lawn Mower Repair

I'm thankful for my little brother who is willing to fix a few of my neighbors' lawn mowers. Having a handy-man (and some free/cheap labor) living here for the summer will be nice.

Internship

Nate just left to start his first day of his summer internship at Decatur Presbyterian. Please pray that it goes smoothly, he has safe travel, and that this experience helps him discern his calling.

Gangsta-Saurus

I found this t-shirt for only $1.99 while up at my parents'. I wanted to buy it for Bisa, but they didn't have one big enough for her knockers (which are considerably larger than mine- and yes, I've always been a bit jealous). Now she can be jealous of me because I own this awesome shirt.

Bridesmaids

Going to see Bridesmaids with some neighbor friends!

Garden

After spending 2 hours weeding and mulching the garden, I realized that I've never made out a list of all that we're growing, so here we go:
  • kale
  • swiss chard
  • lettuce
  • snap peas
  • yellow squash
  • zucchini
  • cucumber
  • green beans
  • green peppers
  • banana peppers
  • beets
  • carrots
  • onions
  • tomatoes
  • cilantro
  • basil
  • okra
  • watermelon
  • egg plant
So far, we've enjoyed kale, swiss chard, lettuce, snap peas, and today we harvested the beets. Here's hoping this will be a summer filled with fresh produce!

Watermelon

Had my first piece (ok, 3 pieces) of watermelon last night and just ate another 2 pieces for a snack. Now it really feels like summer.

Last Softball Game

Since Nate's internship begins this week (he'll have to work Sundays), we played our last softball game tonight. I had 3 pretty good hits (by my standards, anyway) and then we had an excellent cook-out at a neighbor's afterward.

Bruises

I fell out of my tube and went over a huge rapid without it. Major bruises all over my legs. Thankfully the rest of the ride was great.

Tubing!

Going tubing here in North Carolina with my parents, brother, his girlfriend, my aunt, uncle, cousin, and Nate. Hopefully the water won't be freezing.

Girly Morning

Painting my 6 year old cousin's toe nails (Ruby Slipper Red) and watching Tangled.

Take Your Daughter to Work Day

I'm going with my mommy to the soup kitchen/food bank where she works. Yay!

48 emails

We were only at the cabin for 3 days. But in those 3 days without internet, I got 48 emails. Oh, and 2 times the school called to tell me that there were things I need to do immediately. Sometimes I am so thankful that the cabin is an internet and cell phone service free zone.

5 Years

Today is the last day of school.  I have now completed 5 years in the public school system.  Time to take a break.  Spending some time at the cabin and then off to my parents' house!

Technology Discards

Today I'm discarding 3 laserdisc players (complete with HUGE remotes), 2 digital cameras that save onto floppy discs, 4 external CD-RW drives, and 1 Encarta '98 software pack.

Six Flags

I love roller coasters but I hate Six Flags.  It's dirty and expensive and the lines are too long.  Today I have another reason to hate them.  I've called and emailed (numerous times!) about the Reading Club tickets (we turned the paperwork in March!) and they promised the tickets would be here by the 18th.  Here it is, the last teacher work day (the 23rd!) and tickets STILL aren't here.  Six Flags sucks.

Pool Envy

I wish we had friends with pools who would let me come over and swim this afternoon.

Another Post About Pancakes

Making pancakes for breakfast with Lou and Sharla. Pancakes always taste better when eaten in your pajamas.

Lou and Sharla

Our friends Lou and Sharla should be here any minute. They're in town for a wedding and are staying with us tonight.

Green Peppers

I just bought some green pepper plants for the garden. I just can't stop planting!

Pirates

Just in case the world ends tomorrow, I'm going to go see Pirates of the Caribbean tonight. No better way to prepare for the rapture.

Ice Cream Sandwich

I'm done cataloging VHS tapes (for now). I'm rewarding myself with an ice cream sandwich. Good thing I know where the lunch lady has stashed them.

Brothers

My brother and my brother-in-law are both here tonight. I like my family and I'm glad I get to spend some time with them.

No More Cataloging!

I've had it.  I've been cataloging old VHS tapes that got dumped on my from the music department for the last 5 hours and I'm tired of it.  Too bad the only other item on my To Do list is cataloging some professional learning books.  This sucks.
