Girl Scout Cookie Update

My tummy hurts.

Emergency Thin Mints

Today was long. 3 meetings after school. Didn't get home until almost 9. Trying so hard to resist the pull of that last sleeve of thin mints in the back of the freezer.

6 more days!

Summer-itis

I don't want to go to bed. I want it to be summer now.

I need boxes

If we had boxes, I would be packing. I am so ready to move.

Mother's Day

I read in the hammock in the backyard. Korra occasionally pushed me and brought me iced tea. Nate made dinner and brought me a strawberry wine cooler. Such a relaxing day.

Main Event

After a nap, we joined some friends for dinner and games at Main Event (think Dave and Buster's) to celebrate a birthday. We pooled all our points and then found (as 6 adults) that it was really hard to find any prizes we actually wanted. Korra got a stuffed Picchu. We finally settled on candy. Lots of candy.

Botanical Gardens

Met up with my wonderful friend from 7th grade for a morning at the botanical gardens and then a picnic in the park. It was so nice to catch up, enjoy the sunshine, and watch our kids (born only 1 day apart) play together.

Taxes Update

Just in case you were still wondering, it's now been 10 weeks since I filed our taxes and it is still "being processed."  I could really use that refund for moving expenses right about now.

Splash Pad

First trip to the splash pad of the season.

Happy Dance

We got the apartment!  Moving June 6-8th.  Yay!

Waiting is hard

They emailed that they had all the needed paperwork and that it would be only an hour or two to make a decision (that was at 3ish). And then nothing. I am not good at waiting.

Arguing

I am so incredibly tired of middle schoolers (and their parents) arguing with every single effing word that comes out of my mouth.  God help me get through these last few days.

Obsessive

I've been checking my email every 10 min all day. Today is day 2 of the 2-3 days until we should know if we got the apartment.

10 more

10 more school days. I can make it.

Teacher Appreciation

Doughnuts for breakfast. Catered lunch. Cake at the faculty meeting. Feeling appreciated. And kind of fat.

7th ELA

Today they told me with 90% certainty that I'll be teaching 7th grade ELA next year. I'm really excited about the team I'll be working with. My students are less than excited that I might be their teacher again next year.

Baby Shower

Enjoyed time at Le Petite Marche with some lovely friend from college to celebrate a new baby.

Dress Up: Day 2

This morning's church outfit.

Saturday Morning

I made this Oreo cookie pie thing.
Korra dressed like this and did a dance/song on the front porch for 20 min.

Apartment Hunting

Went to see 2 more apartments today and then went out for pizza where we made a decision to apply for one of the ones we saw today. While it's not perfect and is at the top of our budget, it has so many more of the things we're looking for than any other place. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a dishwasher, windows that open, less than half a mile from my school, and (hopefully) no drug dealer next door. Add the bonuses of in-apartment laundry, a balcony, big closets, a fire place, a pool and an ideal move-in date and I'm feeling pretty excited!  Now just the wait to see if we are approved and facing the crushing reality of just how much work moving is.

Shaky Knees

There is a huge music festival in the park that partially surrounds our school this weekend. They've been setting up all week and we had to get special parking pass just to get through the road blocks to get to school this morning. Today you can hear the soundchecks all through the classrooms in one side of the building.

Recital

Left the recital at 8:45. She had a great time. That's all that matters, right?

More Reasons

So here are some more reasons I am so over Korra's dance class:
1)  She was in rehearsal until 8 pm when they told me she'd be done at 7.  Even when I repeatedly asked that they bring me my child, they did not.
2)  We have to pay $6 an hour for parking and $20 per adult for tickets
3) Korra has to be there at 5:30.  The show is from 7-8:30.

In good news, my coteacher helped me to arrange the day so I could leave at noon and take Korra home for a nap (she was SO grumpy this morning and I knew the rest of the night would be awful).  She napped (while I watched over an hour of YouTube videos on WWII and propaganda to find the best for class) and we'll have a little time to eat and relax.

Highs and Lows

A student announced to the class, "No offense but I like Ms Thomas a lot more than Ms B"

Korra's dance recital (that she still isn't sure she wants to be in) is eating up 3 evenings this week.

We went to see another apartment. It was a maybe.  Great location. Really small.

I took my classes outside for a total of 3 hours today. The weather was gorgeous.

I baked cookies for a coworker (she's need asking for a while batch for herself ever since Christmas) and she gave me a full-body 30 second hug when I delivered them.

Nate made tacos for dinner.
