Voter Registration

On this rainy Sunday we changed our address on our driver's licenses and registered to vote. Thankful for online government services.

Lease Signed!

Our renters signed the lease! I really like them.

College Town

Just like I used to come home from college every weekend in the beginning of my freshman year, we find ourselves traveling back to LaGrange this weekend. It's hard to resist the call of your old hometown as you adjust to a new hometown.

Pancake Fridays

My principal makes pancakes for the staff every Friday morning.  Enjoying chocolate chip pancakes while I take homeroom attendance.

"Beach"

Today we took the kids to what they all "the beach" for a reward. They had fun. It was hot.

Flag Football?

Somehow I accidentally volunteered to be on the staff team in the staff vs 7th grade flag football game.  What is a blitz?

Renter

I think we have a renter for our house but I'm almost afraid to write about it in case it falls through again.

Sleepy Korra

Unpacking is exhausting.

Last Night

I can't believe it's our last night in this house. We've been here for over 9 years.  That's longer than either of us have ever lived in one house. We've had 3 roommates, 3 foster kids, and brought Korra home to this house. We've grown into adults in this house. We've learned what community means from this neighborhood. Leaving in the midst of all this pain makes it even harder but during our time in this house we've learned a lot about who we want to be. This home and community have equipped us to pursue that life. I can't thank God enough for the gift of being able to call this place home for the last 9 years has been. I pray this home will continue to be a blessing to the next family.

Moving Truck

Yep, even in the midst of 2 funerals, we're still moving this weekend.

The Reason Everyone Is Sad

A student told me today that I'm the reason everyone is sad. Because we have out progress reports and their grades in my class were not great.

Unpacking

Digging through boxes to find funeral appropriate clothes that I had already packed for the move.

More Sad News

Another neighbor, church member, and friend passed away last night.  So much pain.  So much hurt for our small community.

Tenant Visits

First of four perspective tenants cancelled her appointment. Not feeling hopeful.

So Sad

Trying to cop with the very tragic death of a young man I've known for most of his life.  Neighbor. Church member. Student. So much hurt and shock and pain. God, have mercy.

Roll with it

Got a text at 9:30pm that we are doing standardized testing tomorrow. I am learning so much flexibility at this new school and also loving how little it stresses me out. Maybe it's the laid back culture of the school. Maybe it's because I'm just so stressed about moving that I don't care.

Lease Signed

Well, we signed the lease for our new house in Atlanta. Now we are stressed out about getting our water turned on which requires a visit to their office in downtown. Moving is too much work. Now I remember why we've lived in the same house for 9 years.

R and R

Our time at the cabin was wonderfully restful.
I only wish we could have stayed longer. Our stress level rose noticeably the closer we got to home. Still no rental applications turned in.  Long to-do list.  A busy week ahead of us. Plus, Danny moved out tonight.  Praying many things will be easier by this time next week.

Time to Relax

Took an afternoon hike with my homeroom and had a great time.  Nate and Korra are on their way to pick me up and we're headed to the cabin for some quiet, relaxing time as a family.  Really need this.  Also praying we have someone actually return a rental application by the time I get internet access again on Monday night.

Cake

My fist store-bought cake. Glad I didn't stress over it in the middle of everything else.
The best neighbors who joined us for cake.
Also, Korra wore that homemade crown all day- to the library, the doctor's office, the pharmacy, Kroger, and to dinner at Chickfila.
Oh, and she has already gotten 28 cards in the mail so far thanks to a Facebook request.

Jessie Graff

"Look, Mom!  I'm Jessie Graff!"
