Haircut

Cut 3+ inches off Korra's hair because I can't stand to listen to her whine every time I brush her hair.

Ant Invasion

Opened my dishwasher at lunch to find it was full of sugar ants. Running it got rid of that batch but more arrived by dinner. Guess we'll be hand washing for a few days. Yuck!

Too Smart

Korra drops a piece of macaroni on the floor. She asks why I'm throwing it away and I tell her we don't eat food off the floor. 5 minutes later, after I've told her she can't go play until she finishes her veggies, she drops her cucumber slice on the floor and says, "you said we don't eat food off the floor. I done with the veggies on my plate."

Friends of the Library

Went to my first Friends of the Library board meeting tonight. I felt very smart and useful and young- all nice things.

Back Porch Done

It took Nate and me 4 hours to stain/seal the back porch. All the railings took forever and then I had to get the ladder out to get the back side of many of them. Oh, and a swarm of sweat bees stung us the whole time. What was Korra doing during all of this you might ask?  Movie marathon of Cinderella and Frozen. At least it's done and it looks good!

End of an Era

Korra figured out how (or developed the combination of coordination and hand strength that allows her) to open doors.

Wedding

Attending a wedding on this rainy Sunday afternoon. Korra was the first one on the dance floor.

Constant Singing

Korra makes up songs while she plays. She sings to her food. She pretends baseball bats and paper towel tubes are microphones. She sang most of "Let It Go" while we were in line at Chick-fil-a and "My Favorite Things" (from Sound of Music) on repeat for the duration of our walk. This kid loves to sing.

Justification

Stained/waterproof sealed the picnic table kind of as a trial run for doing the same to the back deck in s few days.
Also, I walked 4 miles this morning.
Those together justify a large cookies and cream milkshake, right?

That game is dead

Korra: Mommy, what should we do?
Me: How about we go to bed?
Korra: No, that game is dead. I told you, the sleeping game is dead.

Kids are so weird.

Sisters

I need to see this.

Watermelon

Invited the neighbors over to help us eat an enormous watermelon. Summer is the best.

Judgement

Picked up a copy of the Thug Kitchen cookbook from the library (I had to get it on interlibrary loan) and got a pretty judgey look from the librarian who flipped through it. Oh well. It's hilarious and has great recipes.

Paperwork

Even though Danny is staying in the same school and I'm an employee of the school system, the Office of Student Assignment made me fill out ALL of his registration paperwork again. What a waste of half an hour.

Errands

Had to run a lot of errands today. Korra wanted to wear her tutu as a dress.

Cabin Recap

Korra sumersaulted head first down half a fligh of stairs and nearly caused me to have a heart attack.

We went white water rafting (Korra stayed at home) and I rode in front of the raft. It was fun, except for those few times I thought I was going to drown.

We watched a whole season of "Come on in Guys" (aka Survivor), hiked to a double waterfall, and ate lunch and dinner in the porch everyday.

Korra yelled, "he's touching me!" or "he's looking at me!" at least twice a day thanks to her 2 cousins.

3 Day Streak

And our 3 day streak of being at home has come to an end. We're off to the cabin for a week to celebrate My mother-in-law's birthday with all of Nate's family.

Fireworks... On TV

Another storm blew through right when we were supposed to go see fireworks with some friends, so we ended up sitting around a living room talking and watching our kids play before turning on the tv and watching the fireworks on NBC.

Parades and Puddles

Decided to go to the 4th of July parade in our downtown this morning. It was short and consisted of children walking with umbrellas since it started to rain pretty hard as soon as it started. Korra really enjoyed jumping in the puddles, though so I guess it was worth it.

Bangs

I keep debating whether to trim Korra's bangs or try to grow them out. Then she falls face first in the driveway. I need those bangs to cover the goose-egg.

Baby Korra

Korra's favorite pretend game right now is that she is a baby. She spends a lot of time saying, "waaah, waaah!", asking for a pacifier, and yes, even making herself drool. It's every bit as annoying as it sounds.

Sister Selfies

I took selfies of my sister and myself at several points in our trip. I wanted to make sure there were at least a few photos of us together and I also thought it was funny since we are not really selfie-taking people.  And I made sure you could barely tell where we were or what we were doing which is why I will caption them.

Long Naps

After a wonderful lunch with my best friend from school, Korra and I both took long naps. Mine clocked in at 2 hours, hers at 3.5.

Typical Korra

In typical Korra fashion, my daughter was wide awake during the entire flight until the last 10 minutes, despite skipping a nap today. And in case you were wondering, there was at least one child crying during every minute of the flight.

Delayed

Our flight home was delayed by more than 2 hours. During our wait, Korra played with the 8 other toddlers/preschoolers who are also on this flight. Finally boarded the plane and everyone is praying that these over-tired kiddos conk out immediately.
