Discharged!

AL has been discharged. She seems totally back to normal, but they still aren't sure what's causing these episodes. They seem to think it's a food allergy because all they said is to keep a food diary. Very frustrating but at least we're at home enjoying AL's birthday dinner of hot wings and french fries.

Longest Week Ever

I need a pause button on my life.

ICU

While at the doctor appointment, AL had another episode. Had to be taken to the ER in an ambulance. Staying in ICU over night. I just left. Nate's there now. I don't know how much more of this I can take before I have a melt down.

Between Me and My Bed

One more doctor appointment and a student concert are all that stand between me and my bed.  Almost there.

Some Good Things

1)  The kids are loving my new HP earrings.
2)  I was able to download Google Chrome!  No more Internet Explorer at school!
3)  Used a "Jeans Pass" so I'm extra comfy today.

AL

AL is such a good kid. While wheezing in the ER, she kept saying how she needed to be taking tests and going to class- how she had finals coming up. She's handling all this PLUS tomorrow's her 18th birthday. AND she's taking the ACT on Saturday. If she can handle this without crying, I guess I can too.

Comforting

A mug of hot cocoa, a good book, a snuggly blanket, and a spot on the couch next to Nate are helping comfort my frazzled mind and body. Feeling more ready to take on the 2 doctor's appointments with AL tomorrow.

Dream Come True

I have a strong urge to lay on my bedroom floor in the fetal position and cry. AL is breathing fine now, but they still don't know what's wrong. I'm am overwhelmed and exhausted.

ER

Nate has been in the ER with AL since 10:15.  I've been in to check on her twice.  Same breathing issues as last time- still no idea what's causing it.

Not a Good Start to My Day

Right before I woke up, I dreamed that I was laying on the floor of my bedroom, curled up in a ball, sobbing, saying, "Why did I agree to this?"  I need to listen to some peppy music and shake that creepy feeling.

Emotionall Exhausted

Today has been an difficult day, but not because of school. Worrying and praying over neighbors for various reasons. Thankful to see God working through these tough situations. Ready for bed.

HP Earrings

I made some earrings from pages of a worn out Harry Potter book. The backs (not pictured) are text. When I asked Nate if they were cool, he hesitated and then said, "They're Katie-cool." What do you think?

To Do: Learn Lines

I was making out a To Do list and almost put down "Learn my lines." For some reason (maybe a dream I had?), I thought I had a whole bunch of lines to learn for a play. Weird.

Leaving Early, Again

Leaving school early for the 3rd day in a row.  This time for a dentist appointment.

Compliment or Reprimand

I'm wearing a new dress and tights today.  I think I look pretty stylish (especially for me).  I see my assistant principal in the hall and she says, "You look just like one of the kids today."  Is this a compliment or is she telling me this outfit is not appropriate for a teacher?

What's Wrong with This Picture?

I am about to make biscuits for dinner. I walk into the living room to look up the recipe (on Pintrest) and Nate says, "Will you look up something for me?" He's on his phone (which has internet) and has his laptop in front of him.

Sore Fingers

My fingers are sore from 2 days full of hand-stitching Christmas present. Just a bit more sewing to go, but I think it'll have to wait until tomorrow so my digits have a little time to recover.

Cuties

AL and I are both a bit obsessed with Cuties- California Clementines.  Small, seedless, sweet, and easy to peel, we've already gone through a 5 lb box since Thanksgiving.  Thank goodness they were on sale again this week!

Cocoa Suggestion

AL suggested we make chocolate cookies, so I added half a cup of cocoa powder to my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and I have to hand it to her, they are fantastic. Too bad she lost interest after the first batch- I'm stuck baking the rest alone.

Girls' Day

Shopping with AL this morning, baby shower this afternoon, and then baking cookies and crafting tonight.

I HATE the dark

I really hate how early it gets dark. It makes me feel like it's too late to do anything and then I just end up watching tv all evening. And then I hate that feeling that I'm wasting my whole life on the couch. Go to work, come home, eat dinner, watch tv, go to bed. I hate it. I need to get out of this funk ASAP.

Back to the Doctor's

After spending all day at the doctor's yesterday with AL, Nate and I have to go back today for eye appointments.  Oh, then I have a dentist appointment on Monday.  Geeze.

Some Good News

I had this awesome parent volunteer who did a bunch of work for the Book Fair come by today and tell me that if I fill out some paperwork, her empolyeer (Walmart) will give the media center $250 under their Volunteerism Always Pays program.  So I get an awesome volunteer AND a nice check.  Thanks, Walmart!

My Day In Numbers

At 10:30 I got a phone call from the high school to come pick up AL- she was having trouble breathing.
5 hours at the clinic
3 epi-pens
2 steroid shots
10 vials of blood
2 breathing treatments
1 chest X-ray
and a CT scan later...
they think she had a severe allergic reaction to something she ate. Waiting on blood work and thankful that after all that she's finally back to breathing easier.

Overslept

Today Nate and I woke up at 6:55 AM.  He needed to leave at 6:30 and I needed to leave at 7:00.  I make it out of the house at 7:15.  There is frost on the windshield.  Can't find the scraper.  Use an old Applebees gift card from my wallett that is probably from 2006 and only has $2 on it.  Car won't start for another 2 minutes because that's what it does when it's cold.  Get stuck behind 2 school buses, but, amazingly, still manage to arrive before the kids do.
