Payback

I have an electric typewriter here at school.  I love it.  Today it ran out of ink.  I have no idea how to fix it.  Thankfully, many of the older teachers did.  I was reminded of all the times I rolled my eyes because their printers were unplugged as they roll their eyes and replace the ink ribbon with ease.

They've Noticed

While teaching almost half the student body today (which always involves wild hand movements), I noticed a few whispers and finger pointing.  It seems they have noticed my tattoo, though only a few said anything outright.

Tired but Happy

As exhausting as this day has been, I've loved it.  I know I am blessed to do something I love and find rewarding every day- and get paid for it!

Speech

I have given the same speech 7 times today and I still have 4 more to go.

Here We Go!

Busy Day begins NOW!

Wine

I don't drink. But part of the bachelorette party from this past weekend was a wine tasting. I was VERY skeptical, but I actually enjoyed myself. I even bought a bottle of this sweet muscadine wine which I plan on enjoying this evening.

One Down

One day down, 188 to go. Tomorrow will be busier. I have 10 class orientations!

1st Day of School

I missed the real first day of school (Friday) so today is my first day of school.  I have a lot to do.  And I'm hungry.  6:30 AM is too early for breakfast.

Bisa and Ryan Sitting in a Tree...

So the Wedding-O-Rama was a huge success. It was amazingly wonderful to catch up with people I haven't seen in years! There were a few stressful moments (like when the ranch we were staying at ran out of water on the wedding day!) but it was beautiful and wonderful and exhausting.

Wedding Extravaganza

Today I'm leaving for North Carolina with one of my best friends from high school. She's getting married in Asheville this weekend and festivities begin today! Yay!

The Dress!

Nate and I are on the road for 30 minutes driving to my parents' house (I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for a wedding in North Carolina) and I realize- I forgot my bridesmaid dress! I'm just glad I realized it sooner rather than later!

Kids

I really love these kids.  I'm enjoying floating around the building, talking with the kids about their summer reading and being excited about the coming year.

Registration

Today is Registration Day! I'm so glad I'm not a classroom teacher today!

Busy Night

Last night I got home from work at about 4:30 and started cooking dinner (roasted veggies and foccacia bread!) After dinner I went on a walk to TK's with Megs, hurried over to Trivia at the pub (where we got 2nd place!), locked the keys in the car, had to drive back with Nate's keys, and read a chapter of Harry Potter before falling into odd dreams about Cho Chang.

Today and Tomorrow

Today I worked from 7:30 AM to 4:15 PM.
Tomorrow I'll work 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
I'm so glad I'm taking off Thursday and Friday.

Tummy Ache

I've got myself so stressed out and overwhelmed that I have a tummy ache.  I need to get a grip.

Ahhhh!

That faculty meeting was long and stressful and those lunchroom benches are uncomfortable.  I have an afternoon of checking printers and laminating to look forward to.  Boo.  Sorry for complaining.

Lunchroom?

We're having all our faculty meetings from now on in the lunch room instead of my media center.  I like having everyone in my space.  Trying not to pout.

Teacher Work Day

Today is the first official teacher work day. I got up at 6:30 AM and remembered that I prefer waking up when it's already light out.

Jealousy

Sometimes I get really jealous of Nate. On the surface, it's because he stays home and plays video games while I work. The real thing I'm jealous of is that Nate knows how to let things go and relax- something I have a lot of trouble doing.

Gradual

I've gradually been working up to work. For the last 2 weeks, I've just gone in the morning. This week, I go all day, but I can come home for lunch. Next week is the real thing- you know, with kids and all. This gradual increase in work time is the way to do it. I feel ready.

Sundress!

In order to improve not just my sewing skills but my visual/spacial skills as well, I decided to make a sundress this summer. It's the first thing I've ever sewn from a pattern without my mommy's help, so I'm pretty proud.

Zipper

I can't put it off any longer. I'm going to put the zipper in my sundress today.

The Point

Nate just pointed out to me that the whole point of my blog is so that I can talk about myself all the time. Isn't that the point of anyone's blog?

Dollar Deals

At a garage sale, I got a hardback book for the library for just $1. I also got a whole fresh pineapple at the grocery store for the same price!
